6 weeks of learning French

It's been 6 weeks since I started learning French and so far I have:
  • Done up to the end of CD 7 (of 8 CDs) of Michel Thomas French

  • Done up to the end of Level 1 Lesson 30 (of 3 levels x 30 lessons) of Pimsleur French

  • Done up to Week 6 Day 6 (of 7 weeks x 7 days) of Teach Yourself Starter Kit French

  • Done up to the end of Lesson 13 of Coffee Break French (by Radio Lingua network)

Didn't progress too much except in Pimsleur... but I did lessons 28, 29 and 30 over and over again until I could say at least 90% of the sentences in the (short) time given (ie without pausing the CD).

Chanel No.5 TVC starring Audrey Tautou and model Travis Davenport

Chanel No.5 TVC starring Audrey Tautou and model Travis Davenport, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet of Amelie (and Delicatessan and A very long engagement fame).

I am in love with these 2 gorgeous stars, and this short film/commercial! It is so beautiful.

The ad, set on a sleeper carriage train going from Paris to Istanbul:

The making of... it has subtitles so I can even learn some French from watching this, where Jean-Pierre talks about the making of this short film. No detail or expense was spared!

Capucine - The most adorable French girl

Whilst browsing YouTube for French related videos... I started seeing this video by accident, then it appeared that many many people had uploaded the same video onto YouTube but none of them was the owner..

I clicked on the URL mentioned in the sidebar...

It turns out that the mother is using her daughter's fairytale video to raise money for a charity in Mongolia.

Her mother speaks perfect English (and can translate between the 2 languages) and I'm wondering why she never taught it to her daughter who seems to be very smart, adorable, funny, curious, animated, expressive, etc.. (I guess why she's so popular on the internet). I am sure she'd pick up a new language easily.

Alors...

The quality of videos on Vimeo seem better (both in terms of content and video file quality) but the downside is that (for me at least) they seem to take longer to load than those on YouTube.. but also there are far fewer videos on there..

Here's a blog with a bit of a description about Capucine's video:

Here, the Vimeo staff made Capucine a Happy 5th Birthday video

Happy Birthday Capucine! from Karen Abad ♥s Dinosaurs. on Vimeo.

and here, her mother filmed her reaction to it (had to translate it for her)

Capucine is très très adorable! And it's amazing how much vocab and grammar I can learn from watching her fairytale video!
