Je suis paresseux
= I am lazy or I am a sloth!
I've known for a long time that the word paresseux meant lazy but it wasn't until recently that my French friend told me it's the same as the French word for sloth. Except that he didn't know how to say sloth in English and described it as a lazy animal that hangs from trees and sleeps all day.
Ha!
But check out this video, they are gorgeous and adorable! Don't you just want to bring a handful home?
Meet the sloths from Amphibian Avenger on Vimeo.
BBC: Sloth's lazy image a myth
Sloth's are slow but apparently do not sleep any more than we do, max 9 hours a day! The things you learn, eh?
---
On another note I won't be able to update very often over the next few weeks as I'm gonna be extremely busy doing some really boring and stressful but necessary stuff... so I can't be too parasseuse (feminine version of parasseux) and spend all day writing in my blog like I wish I could!

For some reason, I suddenly thought of this movie. I thought I had bookmarked it somewhere but I couldn't find it. Luckily a quick keyword search on YouTube led me to it but it was just a copy of the original (which I then found on Vimeo). I cannot remember how or where or why I found this clip (sometime late last year I think) but it's one of the most touching short films I've ever watched and leaves me bawling my eyes out every time. I can relate to the son a lot, in fact I know I've acted like that with my parents and watching this made me feel very sad and ashamed.
It's such a simple storyline but so touching and deep and an expertly made film. Bravo Constantin!

Sexy romantic Paris tourism video
Kisses from Paris, a short promotional film, directed by Yvan Attal
Interesting video! (not sure about the translations though?) I'm not sure if you'd classify it more romantic or more sexy... jugez de vous-même...

Capucine - The most adorable French girl
Whilst browsing YouTube for French related videos... I started seeing this video by accident, then it appeared that many many people had uploaded the same video onto YouTube but none of them was the owner..
I clicked on the URL mentioned in the sidebar...
It turns out that the mother is using her daughter's fairytale video to raise money for a charity in Mongolia.
Her mother speaks perfect English (and can translate between the 2 languages) and I'm wondering why she never taught it to her daughter who seems to be very smart, adorable, funny, curious, animated, expressive, etc.. (I guess why she's so popular on the internet). I am sure she'd pick up a new language easily.
Alors...
The quality of videos on Vimeo seem better (both in terms of content and video file quality) but the downside is that (for me at least) they seem to take longer to load than those on YouTube.. but also there are far fewer videos on there..
Here's a blog with a bit of a description about Capucine's video:

Here, the Vimeo staff made Capucine a Happy 5th Birthday video
and here, her mother filmed her reaction to it (had to translate it for her)
Capucine is très très adorable! And it's amazing how much vocab and grammar I can learn from watching her fairytale video!
